Note that there is no guarantee you will qualify for the loan amount you request. The loan amount you qualify for will be determined by the Kiva review process.
In assessing eligibility, we look at a variety of factors, including but not limited to the following: online presence, character references, photo quality, and the quality of your loan description. Here are some basic guidelines, and example loan sizes to determine what you might qualify for:
$2,000 to $5,000
$6,000 to $10,000
Please note this is just a guideline: The loan amount you qualify for could be increased or reduced based on other factors in your loan application such as the industry, risk, and impact of your business.
Be thoughtful about the loan amount you request! If you have a higher loan request, you will be required to invite more lenders from your personal network and you will have to put more effort into the fundraising process. Kiva will give you 15 days to gather the support of anywhere from 5-30 friends, family, and community members to kickstart your fundraising campaign. Once you reach your lender target, you will have proven your creditworthiness to Kiva. More about the fundraising process here.
To qualify for a Kiva loan, you must be applying for a business loan, not currently in bankruptcy, and with your business located in the United States.
