Last week, we welcomed our newest class of interns, international fellows and Atlas Corps fellows at Kiva’s headquarters. They participated in five intense days filled with trainings, workshops, fun and delicious food. All of our trainees were selected from an impressive pool of applicants from around the world.
This training week differed from the traditional ways of past training weeks. For the first time, Kiva combined what would usually be held as separate trainings for our interns and fellows. We are excited to introduce the 24th class of...

Our 32nd fellows class was in the house this past week at Kiva’s San Francisco headquarters, further strengthening our vibrant community! They bonded as a team as they learned about Kiva's overall strategy, our amazing Field Partners, our core operations, and many other interesting topics that prepared them to carry our mission to the field. Hailing from Mali to Moldova, from Canada to China, from Brazil to Zimbabwe and Swaziland - this incredibly diverse and...

Kiva Fellow Semone Aye, Myanmar:
Catfish noodle soup? Yes please! Mohinga is a staple in Burmese cuisine, and what many Burmese would call "comfort food." Each region of Myanmar has its own variation of the recipe. #myanmar #chili... Continue Reading >>
Rice is everywhere here in Bali, Indonesia! Rice (or “nasi” in Indonesian) is the staple food here and is eaten every day by almost all Indonesians. Not only is rice the staple food, but it is also a staple crop. Beautiful sprawling rice terraces make up much of the country’s landscape. The lush, green rice paddies turn to a golden yellow just before the rice is ready to be harvested. My favorite rice dishes here are steamed rice with various tasty sides (nasi campur) or fried rice with veggies (nasi... Continue Reading >>

I learned that most of the farmers in Delta area in Myanmar, they have a duck farm for their second income. They buy baby ducks, raise them and sell the eggs. I want to support them with Kiva loan!

There were too many posts from our fellows in the field to choose from, so we had to double up and share some more with you this week!
Caroline Dorr, KF25 in Timor-Leste
I was so happy to find this little coffee shop here in Timor-Leste! Although many farmers grow coffee here, most...
Caroline captures an amazing sunset in Bali.
After visiting the Ho Chi Minh Museum and Mausoleum in Hanoi, a colleague and I grabbed some street food. That's vermicelli noodles, tofu and spring rolls you're seeing. Delish.
Pumpkins are in! Halloween is coming! Chicago is a town that is much charming!
While there are many factors that have contributed to these successes, one thing is certain -- Kiva would not be where it is today without the support and contributions of its Kiva Fellows.
Kiva's 20th class of Kiva Fellows before heading out into the field.

In a rural town outside the southern city of Curico, Chile, I’m sitting at a small fold-out table with a 60-year-old Kiva borrower. I’ve just taken photos of her posing proudly inside her business, a small cinder block restaurant that she’s owned for the past 10 years. She’s flattered to have her picture taken and to know that thousands will see her on the internet. But, in order for Kiva to use any of these images, she must... Continue Reading >>
This is a particularly special time for us at Kiva, as so much of our operations rely on the dedication and support of our 500+ volunteers around the world!
Close to 500 Kiva Fellows have helped us make sure our partnerships are running smoothly.
Kiva supporters volunteer their time in a number of ways to fuel our mission. Whether they be interns gaining work experience in our office, Kiva Fellows traveling the world, or multi-lingual editors translating loans... Continue Reading >>
This next class happens to fall during the summer, giving graduate students the opportunity to gain invaluable field experience during their summer breaks. While the typical Kiva Fellow spends 16 weeks in the field, we also offer a small number of shorter-term fellowships during our summer class to accommodate these students. No doubt this has contributed to the all-time high in applications received -- up 36% from last class, and up... Continue Reading >>
