As we enter the spring of 2021, I am struck by how quickly the year is progressing. With the rollout of COVID-19 vaccines in the United States, I am personally excited to gather again with family and friends,...

The Asian American community is under attack. The horrific events in Atlanta on Tuesday underscore rising violence driven by racism, misogyny, and white supremacy.

In the Bay Area, where Kiva was founded, and where much of our team is based, there have been 700 separate reported incidents of acts of anti-Asian hate and discrimination in the last year alone.  As a local and global organization, we also acknowledge the presence and patterns of discrimination and violence involving race and gender across the world, often present in the communities where we seek to make an... Today, on Juneteenth, we celebrate and recognize the end of formal slavery in the United States.

With Kiva’s core mission centered around removing systematic barriers for underserved communities, today serves as a reminder that we still have a long way to go.

Whether it’s your favorite neighborhood coffee shop, your best friend who owns a storefront or a local grower you support at the farmer's market, millions of American businesses will be disrupted when employees and customers must stay home and supply chains break down.

Many of those businesses and entrepreneurs are currently looking for financial relief to survive the...

Kiva has a long history of working to advance financial inclusion in over 90 countries. Over the past 13 years, we’ve made over $1.3 billion USD in loans to unbanked and vulnerable populations globally. With almost 97% repayment rates, we have shown that these populations are overly creditworthy, and we work every day to bring full financial inclusion to them. Because of this, we’ve been asked to participate in a new multi-stakeholder...

Dear Kiva community,
As we begin 2019, we are filled with gratitude for all of you and excitement for Kiva’s future. We have some big plans for the year, and are pleased to share more about what’s evolving at Kiva.

Thanks to you, Kiva has funded $1.3 billion in loans to more than 3.1 million borrowers over the past 13 years. But the challenge of financial access remains immense – there are 1.7 billion people who are still unbanked around the world.

What we’re working on in 2019

We know Kiva has the expertise,... Continue Reading >>
